Edward's Baptism
[Read my Baptism Prep Ideas at this link]
It was a beautiful day in the neighborhood, a beautiful day for a Baptism.
Edward entered the church in casual attire, and was welcomed by the congregation. Mikayla, Eddie's oldest sister, was our "Special Person" who held him in the back during the Liturgy of the Word, then brought him forward as each child's name was sung.
We then joined Edward to undress him for the Baptism Rite of water at the lovely, heated Baptismal Font. Here, his Papa - Deacon Bruce baptized him.
We took him out into the foyer where he was dressed in his white gown (made by me) and awaited anointing. Because his Godparents were in the hospital delivering their fifth child, my sister and brother-in-law stepped in as proxy godparents. [Thank you!]
The candle was lit, he was anointed, and the congregation stepped forward to welcome and bless him one by one.
It was a lovely Baptism.
So on to the reception at home. The table and counters were set, beginning with appetizers of meat and pickles on crackers, bowls of popcorn, candies, mints and drinks. The dessert was out right away, brownies frosted like hydrangeas with vanilla ice cream. The gifts were thoughtful, and already being enjoyed.
We later had Dinner with ham sandwiches, bacon ranch salad, and a fruit bowl.
Parting Gifts as planned were handed out - a hand sanitizer to remember the cleansing of sin (coincidentally they were labeled by BBW "Bee Good" and "Bee Nice.") as well as a packet of M&Ms to remember the sweet little baby.
Proud Grandparents
CONGRATULATIONS!
…to Tom's brother and sister-in-law who delivered our nephew the night before, and congrats to our friends set to be Edward's Godparents who delivered just a few doors down at the same time!
