About the Author

Melissa is a Roman Catholic wife and mother to 10 children (3 are in Heaven). I spend most days here in Minnesota trying to achieve my goals with enriching our faith life, homeschooling our children, personal health, strengthening our marriage, nurturing friendships, managing finances, and caring for our home. We are relaxed home educators who integrate academics into our day instead of making it the main event. We lead a simple lifestyle, centered around our faith and family.

Homegrown Catholics - Our homeschooling experience

Raising our children at home 24/7 is quite the vocation. It requires inner strength, or as we call it "God's Grace." Each child is taken as a seedling, planted and nurtured right here in our home garden, watered with God's graces. One day God can harvest the fruit and let it sweeten the lives of others. Homegrown Catholics blog is a place for us to share this journey with you. Let it be a resource of renewal and inspiration!

God Bless,
Melissa & Tom, and our growing family

St. Brigid's Academy

Why St. Brigid's Academy? No, we're not Irish - but she's my Confirmation saint who had much in common with me when I chose her name. She inspires our perserverance in home education, and in our Christian actions towards others.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Most compelling truth for me.
